Celebrating Mexican / Mexican-American / African-American / Asian-American and Native American Community History

Mario is proud of the Mexican, Mexican-American, African-American, Asian-American and Native American history here in the City of Redlands.  He wants to ensure that it is not forgotten and supports efforts to celebrate it.  For example, he was involved in the naming of the Israel Beal Park, after an early African-American pioneer in our area, and was proud to be an organizer of the first Redlands Juneteenth Celebration, which was held there. He has also been active in recognizing the history of Redlands’ Chinatown, and ensuring that it is not erased from our community’s awareness. Finally, Mario recognizes that the land we live on is Native American and that we, as Redlanders, need to acknowledge this history.
